Big Patch Update!


Hey everyone! It’s been a busy month here at Code Cozy, and we’ve been working hard to make your experience smoother, prettier, and more enjoyable. Here’s everything we’ve been up to:

New Features & Big Changes

  • Fishing Improvements
    • Added dialogue for fishing that gives feedback on why you didn’t catch a fish (because sometimes the fish are just too clever).
    • Updated the fishing UI to be simpler and give basic directions.
    • Casting gauge now affects casting distance, so aim carefully!
    • Disabled pausing the game while fishing to keep things fair.
  • Building System Updates
    • You can no longer build outside the zone (no more floating islands on the river).
    • If your build overlaps with something, it’ll refuse to place.
    • Wandering 3 seconds off the farm now auto-turns off build mode (no more building in the middle of town).
    • Quality of life improvement: Using the hammer now auto-builds the plot.
  • Dialogue & NPCs
    • Added a new dialogue UI and NPC cameras for a more immersive experience.
    • Introduced a special arrow button to end conversations, replacing the generic [Leave] and [Nevermind] options.

Visual & World Updates

  • Levels & Lighting
    • Made sure levels and level loaders line up properly.
    • Removed extra overlight levels to avoid light conflicts.
    • Fixed textures on several assets, including ORM-to-mask errors.
    • Fixed shrunken assets from reimports (no more dollhouse-sized tables).
  • Art & Assets
    • Imported and swapped a ton of art assets: sinks, stairs, bulletin boards, axes, hammers, kaiberries, scythes, and more!
    • Updated building textures (except the blacksmith, they’re still working on their glow-up).
    • Added more meshes and detailing to the town hall to make it feel more alive.
    • The library and general store levels have had a massive visual update, be sure to check them out!
    • Put the map in the engine and added toggleable fishing locations.

Miscellaneous Fixes & Improvements

  • Added checks for physics and velocity before turning off physics. Let us know if you encounter the infinite velocity spinning stick!
  • Made enemies not interactable. They’re past the point of conversation anyway.
  • Removed scroll wheels from chests and reduced their size to 25 slots.
  • Updated door opening and closing logic for consistency.
  • Fixed the tea pet’s movement (it was stuck due to scaling issues).
  • Implemented the sitting animation node for your character.
  • Removed normals from fish to improve their appearance.
  • Added collision to small berries and tree fruits to prevent them from falling through the ground.

Known Issues

We’re aware of the following issues and are working on fixes. Here’s a breakdown by category:

  • Input
    • Can not trigger combat mode.
    • Watering unbuilt plot.
  • Building
    • Movement retains after interacting.
    • Hoed plots cannot be walked or run onto.
    • Plots do not get saved.
  • Audio
    • Falling noise effect.
    • Watering soundFX on pause screen.
  • AI
    • ENT walking animation is backwards.
  • Level Design
    • Lighting near the fireplace.
    • Fern's house is dark.
  • Dialogue
    • Eriato text block "do you need anything?"
    • Saoirse dialogue size code visible.
  • Lighting
    • Player’s shadow glitches in water.
    • Tree shadow pixelates over water.
    • Player image reflection by water near fence.
  • Inventory
    • Equipping item on top of another item causes the item in the hotbar to disappear after re-equip.
    • Catching fish doesn’t update stack in hotbar.
    • Invisible inventory items.
    • Unwanted object replacement.
    • Holding tools are not in Fern's hands.
    • Pickaxe is comically large.
  • Art
    • Trees are super pixelated and need to be more tiled.
  • Gameplay
    • Night time got too dark.
  • Fishing
    • Stuck bug if in fishing mode at the end of the day.
    • Fishing gets stuck on the wall.
    • Bobber gets stuck on the edge of the bank.
  • Farming
    • Cannot interact with farming plots when left-clicking with equipment.
    • Plots interactable text says "Placeholder Text."
    • No place to use the axe.
  • Settings
    • Display type doesn’t save.
